Domestic problems can be insidious and often are ignored until it is too late. Issues of infidelity, alcohol or drug abuse, gambling, abusive, “out-of-control”, or missing family members can destroy families; and until these problems are dealt with, there is little peace in a family. Select is experienced with all these problems, with everything from locating run-away teens to referrals for families to help with addiction, proven infidelity, or domestic abuse. Select is not qualified to give legal advice, and whether you can benefit financially from proving infidelity or any other domestic problem is a question for your attorney. Reasonable information and belief is necessary for us to initiate a domestic investigation. However, Select does not investigate the fidelity of a boyfriend or girlfriend and frankly questions the legal basis of such an investigation.

Stalking - The crime of stalking has become more prevalent as our society has become increasingly mobile and easier access to personal information allows the curious to identify locations and track activities. Confidential information sometimes is obtained from an ill-informed or indiscriminate private investigator. A controlling or abusive partner has the potential to become even more dangerous once his/her victim separates. In such instances, it is important to have a well organized plan actively in place to prevent further confrontation and violence by the partner seeking to regain control. Our goal is to utilize all avenues to provide for the safety of the victim.

A “Simple Obsessional Stalker” is one who had a past relationship with an individual and, although the object of their affection has terminated the relationship, he/she cannot allow it to end. It is not unusual for a stalker to be involved in other romantic relationships, even being married and have a family, while pursuing his/her victim. Unfortunately, same-sex stalking is no longer rare. In each specific case, we tailor our approach with the safety of the victim as our primary priority, putting effective safeguards in place to block the behavior of the stalker. As necessary and appropriate, we utilize the stalking laws; and we have successfully provided evidence leading to convictions of these crimes. If you believe you are the victim of stalking, we are available to talk with you about your situation and to help you plan a safe and effective course of action.

Erotomania, a recognized psychiatric diagnosis, is stalking by an individual who does not know the victim personally or have any relationship with the victim. An individual with erotomania has a serious mental illness. Such stalking is a problem not only for celebrities but also for those individuals who have contact with the public. The deeply held pseudo-romantic belief of these stalkers is “you would love me if only you truly knew me”. Although this stalker presents a complex problem, we have been successful with these situations and are recognized as experienced in this arena.
