Many businesses, and small businesses in particular, often do not have the internal resources to effectively prevent or solve problems related to violence, theft, fraud, embezzlement, and interference with intellectual property. In most instances, until a crime has been committed, the police cannot act. Even then, police investigators frequently are unable to devote sufficient effort to addressing your problem in a timely manner. Often, there is a gap between what the community needs and what services the government is able to provide; and unfortunately, that gap continues to grow.

Select, however, acts and responds to your needs. On many occasions, by taking effective pro-active measures, Select has averted incidents of workplace violence, prevented the loss or use of illegally obtained intellectual property before it bankrupted a business, thwarted sabotage, theft, fraud, extortion, or embezzlement from devastating a business, and investigated allegations to avoid damage to reputations and careers or defend unfounded lawsuits.

Select has worked with all types of businesses and institutions. Our clients include universities, manufacturers, sales companies, physicians, hospitals, banks, accounting firms, law firms, trucking companies, property management companies, temporary employee firms, mortgage brokers, just to name a few. The particular problems each had, in every instance, were as diverse as the individual businesses. In one instance, our client was awarded over one million dollars to compensate for his loss as well as reimburse him for his legal and investigative expenses.

Is a threat assessment necessary in your workplace or in your personal life? We have the expertise to investigate and assess threats; and if a valid threat is present, we will create a plan to maximize the safety of the target of that threat. Our goal is to divert the emotion driving the threat, to eliminate threatening contact with our client, optimizing the ability of the person responsible for the threat to “move on.” In some instances, incarceration is the solution. When one of North Carolina's largest employers declared bankruptcy, and 7,000 employees faced layoffs, the management team turned to Select Investigations to provide protection for 5 senior executives at home and at work 24 hours, 7 days a week. We managed their personal security and safety during all public appearances and press conferences that took place during this time.

In a sexual discrimination lawsuit against a national corporation, after Select provided evidence that the employee coerced a “witness” and then threatened him in order to provide a sworn statement, the lawsuit was dismissed.

We have provided protection for a physician assaulted and stalked by her husband, a business owner threatened by a former business partner also attempting extortion, bank employees assailed by a mentally ill investor, and a number of other unique executive protection cases. In each case, our knowledge and experience in the area of executive protection provided peace of mind for our client who entrusted us with not only their own safety and security but their family’s protection, as well. As firearm instructors for the state of North Carolina, we train and certify security officers, armored car personnel, armed private investigators, and one of the largest international security companies. For the executive protection team and investigative agents of a large utility company, we provided training and officer certification.

We are also NRA instructors and training counselors, certified to train instructors, and alumni of Gunsite, the world’s best-known firearm training institute. We do not provide routine security services or celebrity services. Quite frankly, other resources are better choices for those services. Our focus in executive protection is a situation where a valid, specific, threat exists for our client.
